’t Tegendeel
Monday 28 July
Since it’s the right period to eat mussels, Saturday we decided to go to the coast. Without any doubt we decided to go to Knokke. We really like the town, it is a rich and fashionable place. It is a nice place to have a drink in one of the many bars and brasseries along the promenade and look at the people.
We choose among the hundred of restaurants available the ‘t Tegendeel. We made the right choice!
As a starter I had “Croquettes de ris de veau”. If you like ris de veau they were delicious. But we were there for the mussels.
When available they serve mussels of superior quality cooked according to “grandmother’s recipe”. Amazing! The mussels were really tasty and the secret ingredients of grandmother’s recipe added an exquisite flavour that we were not able to identify. However, the taste was in perfect harmony with the white house wine.
As a dessert we had zabaglione with Grand Marnier, although the flavour of Grand Marnier a bit too strong for me. Instead I truly enjoyed a good espresso followed by a grappa.
The place is definitely worth another visit on which we will try out the menu, which will be hopefully as tasteful as the mussels.
As for the price? I think it was fair enough.
Our personal judge is 8/10.
